Carbon Clear Filler is the clear version of the known 2k polyester filler Carbon Filler. It is a
clear filler for glass and carbon fibre but even for all rigid and semirigid plastic. Ideal as
automotive filler but even for repairs of
yachts and
RV, or not structural damages to mast and spar, particularly suitable for
smoothing microporousity in composite materials. It has the advantage of being fully transparent, with thin thickness. Adhesion on polyester resin laminated products is excellent, while we recommend a preventive test for epoxy resins, considering the many differences between them.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: First of all, make sure surfaces are dry and clean, removing any oil and grease with an
antisilicone solvent. Lightly abrading the surface with a particularly fine grain, to allow an optimal adhesion of the putty, and thoroughly clean it from sanding residues. Mix the product. Take the amount needed, combine the drying component in 1% ratio and mix thoroughly until the product becomes purplish, then catalyze it with the hardener component (2-3% of the compound). The drying component can also be mixed all at once inside the Carbon Clear Filler, from this time the product life is 2 months (storage in a cool, dry place, between +10 and + 20°C). Without adding the drying component, the product life is about 4 months, to have this duration (or even a longer duration) guaranteed it is essential the storage at not more than 20° C in a cool and dry place. Once catalyzed, proceed with the application with a rubber or
steel spatula, using a few product on small surfaces and paying attention to the thickness. Remember that unlike the drying, the catalyst (hardener) must always be added only at the time of use: polyester filler hardens quickly, the product should preferably be used within 4-5 minutes, and it is
ready for sanding after 30 minutes (could change depending on thickness).
Suggests for sanding: It is advisable, if possible, to sand only by hand to avoid damaging the laminate. Always use fine grains (dry sanding with P320, P400, P500, P600 grain).
Important: requires UV protection, we recommend to apply a
2k clear coat for protection. It can be also overcoated with our primers and paints.
Peculiarity: Carbon Clear Filler can be pigmented (after catalysis) with special polyester pastes to create a colored putty in pastel colours for special effects on fabrics and particular finishes with semi transparency.
